Bulgaria is like a bridge hanging between the soviet era and a modern European Country . When you visit Sofia, the capital, this is visible. Around the Parliament and the astonishing Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the buildings are very well preserved and rebuilt, large roads and clean, young people, busy cafes, shopping streets with the traditional franchises but as we walk away we see a completely different city, the old communal blocks, unsmiling faces, old cars, like if we were back to the seventies and the cold war.
For all who love to visit places full of history this is fascinating, and I loved photographing these contrasts.
